Transient Energy Analysis in Water-Filled Viscoelastic Pipelines

چکیده

The transient flow phenomenon in a pipeline accounts for the variations with time and space. energy analysis (TEA) overlooks process as it sums of entire pipe domain reports at each moment. current research takes advantage this approach to investigate different influential factors water pipelines, including steady friction, unsteady wall viscoelasticity, figure out conversion dissipation during process. To end, expressions are derived compared both elastic viscoelastic systems. Two materials—oriented polyvinyl chloride (PVC-O) high-density polyethylene (HDPE)—are applied compare proportions by factors. results reveal that small perturbations, influence friction is dominant dissipation, impact viscoelasticity grows excitation intensity valve’s oscillation frequency. Besides, spatial (per unit length) along have been investigated single branched systems, demonstrating significant deviations distance from source.

Rapid Flow Startup in Filled Horizontal Pipelines

Maintenance or repair of water mains may require the interruption of flow. Re-initiation of flow may present opportunities for the interaction of air and the accelerating water, resulting in undesirable pressure transients. This study focuses on air intrusion during flow startup in an initially filled horizontal pipeline supplied by a constant-head reservoir. Flow was initiated by opening the d...

Monitoring for Transient Pressures in Pipelines

A change in the flow rate in a full pipeline will cause a change in the pressure within that pipeline. These changes are given careful attention in the well-designed pipeline; however, in the past it has been difficult to accurately measure these transient pressures after the pipeline is constructed and placed in service. Transient pressures exceeding the structural strength of the pipeline wil...

Energy-Efficient Pipelines

We discuss the design of energy-efficient pipelines for asynchronous VLSI architectures. To maximize throughput in asynchronous pipelines it is often necessary to insert buffer stages, increasing the energy overhead. Instead of optimizing pipelines for minimum energy or maximum throughput, we consider a joint energy-time metric of the form E , where E is the energy per operation and is the time...

Frequency domain analysis of transient flow in pipelines; application of the genetic programming to reduce the linearization errors

The transient flow analyzing by the frequency domain method (FDM) is computationally much faster than the method of characteristic (MOC) in the time domain. FDM needs no discretization in time and space, but requires the linearization of governing equations and boundary conditions. Hence, the FDM is only valid for small perturbations in which the system’s hydraulics is almost linear. In this st...

Pressure Wave Propagation in Liquid-Filled Tubes of Viscoelastic Material

The propagation of small-amplitude waves in a thick-walled long viscoelastic tube of variable cross-section, filled with a viscous incompressible fluid, is considered with account for wave reflection at the tube end in application to arterial pulse wave propagation. A solution is obtained in the form of expansions in a small parameter. The effect of the coefficient of wave reflection at the tub...
